Zuckerberg says the new Meta team will work on “AI Faces,” other features

Mark Zuckerberg announced that a new team will be formed at Meta Platforms, whose work is supposed to bring artificial intelligence-based genetics.

The CEO of Facebook, Instagram and its corporate parent WhatsApp revealed the creation of the new “top-level product team” focused on artificial intelligence in a Facebook post on Monday.

“In the short term, we will focus on building creative and expressive tools. In the long term, we will focus on developing AI personalities that can help people in a variety of ways,” Zuckerberg wrote of the team.

Facebook’s corporate parent company is “exploring experiences with text (such as chat on WhatsApp and Messenger), with images (such as creative Instagram filters and ad formats), and with video and cross-media experiences,” he added.

By bringing together “many of the teams working on building artificial intelligence across the company,” the new “top-level product team” will be formed, Zuckerberg said.

Generative AI uses algorithms to generate text, images and other content. The field of artificial intelligence has been making headlines recently due to ChatGPT, a chatbot created by OpenAI and backed by Microsoft, that is garnering attention.

The CEO said the company has “a lot of groundwork to do before it gets into really futuristic experiences.” He also expressed excitement about what he expects Meta to create in the process.
