Mark Zuckerberg announced that a new team will be formed at Meta Platforms, whose work is supposed to bring artificial intelligence-based genetics.
The CEO of Facebook, Instagram and its corporate parent WhatsApp revealed the creation of the new “top-level product team” focused on artificial intelligence in a Facebook post on Monday.
“In the short term, we will focus on building creative and expressive tools. In the long term, we will focus on developing AI personalities that can help people in a variety of ways,” Zuckerberg wrote of the team.

Facebook’s corporate parent company is “exploring experiences with text (such as chat on WhatsApp and Messenger), with images (such as creative Instagram filters and ad formats), and with video and cross-media experiences,” he added.

By bringing together “many of the teams working on building artificial intelligence across the company,” the new “top-level product team” will be formed, Zuckerberg said.
Generative AI uses algorithms to generate text, images and other content. The field of artificial intelligence has been making headlines recently due to ChatGPT, a chatbot created by OpenAI and backed by Microsoft, that is garnering attention.

By creating the new team, Meta aims to boost its efforts in genetic artificial intelligence, according to Zuckerberg’s post.
The CEO said the company has “a lot of groundwork to do before it gets into really futuristic experiences.” He also expressed excitement about what he expects Meta to create in the process.

In recent weeks, there have been developments regarding AI-powered services at other tech companies such as Google and Microsoft.

Google introduced its experimental AI chat service Bard, as well as new AI-powered features for its Search, Maps and Lens apps.
Microsoft introduced artificial intelligence upgrades to its Bing search engine and Edge web browser.
Some Spotify users are starting to get the AI DJ that the audio streaming service announced last week.
Earlier this month, Zuckerberg described artificial intelligence as one of the “two big technology waves” driving the company’s roadmap during Meta’s fourth-quarter earnings call.

“Artificial intelligence is the foundation of our discovery engine and advertising business, and we also believe it will enable many new products and additional transformations in our applications,” he told investors and analysts. “Generative AI is a hugely exciting new field with so many different applications, and one of our goals for Meta is to leverage our research to become a leader in generative AI in addition to our leading work in recommender AI .”
