Scream VI star Courtney Cox recently talked a bit about the role of Gale Weathers in the upcoming sequel. He is the only cast member to survive and returns to the franchise as Neve Campbell she chose not to return for the money she was offered.
It’s a shame Campbell isn’t coming back, and when speaking about her absence, Cox said she “missed working with her” and that she stands up for “whatever she believes is right.” He then went on to tease an “awesome” scene he shares with Ghostface, telling Variety:
“I got a really good scene with Ghostface and it was amazing. Obviously I’ve been stabbed a lot of times and all that, but this time, working with Ghostface and not knowing who’s under the mask was really fun. Usually from the moment they stab me, I know who it is.”
I guess that means he’ll get stabbed again. We probably get a glimpse of the scene he’s referring to here in the trailer that was released. The big question is…will Gale survive again or join Dewy in the afterlife? Coxs went on to say:
“(Gail) still lives in New York, which is great because now the killer is in New York, since Sam and Tara have moved there. It kind of fell into her lap. She wrote a book afterwards. She told Sam she didn’t he would and then of course he did because, I mean, someone would. So, he had to. Kirby — Hayden Panettiere is coming. It’s so interesting how people turned around. I have to remember. I thought he died! I’m so confused. There have been so much. I’m so excited to be a part of something for so long.”
The next chapter in the horror saga “continues with the four survivors of Ghostface’s murders as they leave Woodsboro behind and begin a new chapter.”
When we talk about the violence factor, Melissa Barrera he recently said in an interview, “With the last one Scream, they tiptoed around and tried to be very respectful of what the franchise had been up to that point, and keep their inner wild dreams at bay. But with this one, it was like, “We’re going all out.” It’s potentially a hundred times worse.” So we make it!
Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillette (He screamed, ready or not), are both back behind the camera for the upcoming Scream VI.
The cast also includes Jenna Ortega as Tara Carpenter, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy, Mason Gooding as chad, Samara Weaving, Liana Liberato, Hayden Panettiere as Kirby, and Dermot Mulroney. Courtney Cox previously confirmed her participation. Some newcomers include actor Dermot Mulroney and Mission impossible star Henry Czernyplus Jack Champion (Avengers: Endgame, Avatar: The Way of Water), Liana Liberato (Light as a feather), Devyn Nekoda (Sneakerella), and Josh Segara (Arrow’s Adrian Chase).
Scream VI will bring Ghostface back to theaters on March 10, 2023.
