by Chris Rock didn’t hold back as he spoke publicly about Will Smith’s controversial Oscars slapping incident for the first time on Saturday night.
The 58-year-old comedian unleashed a barrage of extreme attacks on the 54-year-old actor and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, 51, in the final minutes of his Netflix special “Selective Outrage,” nearly a year after Smith walked. on stage at the Academy Awards and slapped him across the face.
More than an hour into his set, the three-time Grammy Award winner addressed the infamous incident directly, referring to former rapper Suge Knight, who is serving a 28-year prison sentence after pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter in 2018.
“You all know what happened to me, getting hit by Sug Smith,” he began. “Everybody knows! Everybody f—— knows! Yeah, it happened. I got slapped. A year ago, I got slapped at the Oscars f—— by this mom—— and People they say, “Did it hurt?” It still hurts! I’ve got “Summertime” in my ear! But I’m not a victim. You’ll never see me on Oprah or Gayle, cry

He continued, “No, it will never happen. No. F— that s—., I took that hit like Pacquiao’s mother—–!”

Rock went on to comment on their size difference, noting, “Will Smith is a lot bigger than me. We’re not the same size.”
“This guy makes his movies with his shirt off!” Rock exclaimed. “You’ve never seen me do a movie with my shirt off. If I’m in a movie doing open-heart surgery, I put on a sweater. Will Smith played Muhammed Ali in a movie. You’d think I auditioned for that part. I played him Pookie in ‘New Jack City’. I played a piece of corn in ‘Pootie Tang’… even in cartoons, he’s bigger. I’m a zebra, he’s a shark.”
The rock name checked the title of his tribute as he accused Smith of exercising “selective outrage” and referred to Jada’s “entanglements”.
“And for people who don’t know what everybody knows — Will Smith, his wife was her son’s friend,” Rock said.
The comedian then mocked Smith for appearing on Jada’s Facebook Watch show “Red Table Talk” in which they discussed her infidelity.
“We’ve all been cheated on. We’ve all been cheated on. None of us have ever interviewed the person who cheated on us on TV,” he said. “It hurt him a lot more than he hurt me.”
“Everybody in the world called him a b—-,” he added. “I tried to call mom—– and give him my condolences, she won’t pick up. Everyone called this man b—-, f—– Charlamagne [tha God] called him a b—-, “The Breakfast Club” called him a b—– and “The View” and “The Talk,” and every rapper called him a b—-, his wife a predator, everybody they called him b—-. All! All! And who is he hitting? My!”

Rock accused Jada of telling him he shouldn’t host the Oscars after Smith wasn’t nominated for his performance in 2015’s “Concussion.”
“So I made a few jokes about it, who gives a f—?” he said. “That’s right. She starts it, I finish it. This f— happened. Nobody picks this b—-. He started this s—.”

He reiterated that Jada told him he should “quit his job” because her husband was not nominated for “Concussion.”
“And then this n—- gives me a concussion,” he quipped.
Rock recalled how much he had admired Smith’s music and films in the past, saying he “loved” him. “I’ve been rooting for Will Smith my whole life,” he said. “And now I watch ‘Emancipation’ just to see him buzz.” The comedian was referring to Smith’s 2022 film Apple+, in which he plays a slave.
In the final moments of his show, Rock explained why he didn’t physically retaliate after Smith slapped him.
“A lot of people go, ‘Chris, how come you didn’t, anything back?'” ‘How come he didn’t do anything that night?’ Because I have parents, that’s why, because I grew up.”
“You know what my parents taught me? Don’t fight in front of White people!”

The Rock special, which was Netlfix’s first live streaming event, took place at the Hippodrome Theater in Baltimore, Maryland.
During the show, he poked fun at a number of famous personalities, including Meghan Markle, the Kardashians, OJ Simpson, Elon Musk, Snoop Dogg, Dave Chappelle, Beyoncé, Doja Cat and Draymond Green. He touched on “wakeism”, “cancer culture”, transgenderism, abortion, politics, victimization and division in America, among other things.
Ahead of the show, Netflix promised the “seven-second delay button makes a night away” for “Selective Outrage” in a press release the streaming platform issued earlier this month.
The Rock special was flanked by a pre-show at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles hosted by Malaysian comedian Ronny Chieng and featuring performances by Arsenio Hall, Leslie Jones and JB Smoove.
The event also featured a collection of pre-recorded messages from a number of big names including Amy Schumer, Paul McCartney, George Lopez, Adam Sandler, Kevin Hart, Ice-T, Jerry Seinfeld and Matthew McConaughey among others . After the special, Dana Carvey and David Spade hosted “The Show After the Show” with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Yvonne Orji, Smoove and Hall.
Almost a year ago, the infamous incident unfolded live on stage in front of a global audience at the 95th Academy Awards.

Smith, who won best actor for his performance in “King Richard” later that night, took offense to a joke the comedian made about Jada.
“Jada, I love you. ‘GI Jane 2’, I can’t wait to see it, okay?” Rock had joked at an award show. It was referring to the 1997 film GI Jane, starring Demi Moore, who shaved her head to play a fictional Navy SEAL candidate.
The Nutty Professor actress suffers from alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss. After Rock’s joke, Smith stunned the audience when he came on stage and punched Rock in the face.
Prior to the special, the “Spiral” star had remained mostly mum on the offense except for the jokes she tried. stand-up audience in His “Ego Death World Tour”. Some of the material made it special on Saturday night.

Smith first publicly apologized to Chris Rock and the Academy in a statement he posted on Instagram the day after the Oscars. In August, she shared a five-minute video on Instagram in which she apologized to Rock and others — including Chris’ mother, Rose Rock.

The “Bad Boys For Life” star revealed he reached out to Rock to talk about the incident, but claimed the comedian isn’t ready to sit down with him. Last week, Smith appeared to joke about the slap in a video he shared on Instagram.
The Academy Awards will air next weekend on March 12, but Smith won’t be there like he was banned for 10 years following the slap.
