We are about to be bombarded with a lot Lord of the Rings content! It was recently announced that Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema were to develop new films based on the stories created by JRR Tolkien. This is over epic The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series developed by Amazon. They have already released season 1 and have four more seasons coming. Then there is the ongoing anime movie, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.
So, in the coming years, The Lord of the Rings the content will be fetched consistently. During a recent interview with Variety, the head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Schalke asked if we might be getting too close Lord of the Rings about the market, and this was her response:
“We’ll see. We love our original series. We’re extremely proud of it and invested in it for the long term. So we definitely think there’s enough fan love to keep ours going for a long time.”
So, she is definitely 100% committed The Rings of Power. I was really wondering what everyone at Amazon was thinking when the news came out about the new one Lord of the Rings they hit movies. I can’t help but think they’re a little pissed off about this because they only deal with the spin-offs while WB deals with the main meat of the stories.
It was previously explained that “the incomparable world of JRR Tolkien returns to the big screen in new and exciting ways. We understand how beloved these projects are and, working with our partners at New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures, we plan to honor the past, look to the future and uphold the strongest level of quality and production values.”
It also explained, “For all the scope and detail lovingly packed into the two trilogies, the vast, complex and dazzling universe dreamed up by JRR Tolkien remains largely unexplored.” These new movies will explore more of the Middle Earth universe, which is sure to be exciting.
There’s no word on whether Peter Jackson and his team will return to participate in those films, but as of now, he’s “in the loop.” In a statement released by Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, said: “Warner Brothers and Embracer keep us informed every step of the way. We look forward to speaking with them further to hear their vision for the franchise moving forward.”
While these movies are in development, Amazon Studio will spend over a billion dollars to develop five seasons The Rings of Powerand are currently in the middle of filming season 2.
